Women’s Health

We provide world class primary care for women’s health including family planning, contraception, sexual health, menstrual and menopausal issues, pregnancy care and cervical and breast screening.

Cervical Screening

A cervical screening test is a tool for detecting the HPV infection that causes cell changes linked to cervical cancer. Cervical screens are recommended all women aged between 25 – 70 years have a cervical screening test.

Contraception

Several of our GPs at Seacrest Medical Centre have a special interest in women’s health, family planning and contraception. As well as prescribing short acting forms of contraception, we have GPs who are qualified in insertion of longer acting contraception such as the Mirena and Implanon. Please speak with our helpful reception staff for more information.

Men’s Health

The doctors at Seacrest Medical Centre are here to provide an accepting, comfortable environment to help all men of all ages with their health. Men are encouraged to get preventative health checks done to ensure any potential issues are addressed. Our GPs recommend regular blood screening for health issues such as, high cholesterol, diabetes, prostate, and a range of other health conditions.

Vaccinations

Childhood Vaccinations – our team of GPs and nurses are up to date on all the latest vaccinations require for your child. From your babies 6-8 week needles and check-up in clinic to all school aged required vaccines we are here to help.

Travel Vaccinations – Seacrest Medical stocks a comprehensive range of travel vaccines on site and we are also an approved Yellow Fever vaccine provider. Commonly you may require Hepatitis A and Typhoid travel vaccines, Tetanus booster. With this in mind, it is recommended for travellers to book in at least 6 weeks prior to departure. Our GPs will discuss your travel plans and recommend the appropriate immunisations for your travels.

Influenza Vaccinations – Influenza vaccines are available annually for our community. It is recommended that all patients over 6 months are vaccinated against influenza. The Influenza vaccine will protect you against the most prevalent strains. You will also be helping to protect the most at risk members of our community. Free influenza vaccinations are available for children aged 6 months – 11 years, people 65 years and above, pregnant women, and those with a chronic medical condition.

Minor Surgeries

Our team of doctors can conduct minor surgery including excision, biopsy or radiocautery of skin lesions, Toe wedge resections and other minor procedures. Our newly refurbished minor procedure rooms have the best up to date technology for these procedures. Speak with your doctor or reception staff for more details.

Diving Medicals

Scuba diving medicals can be conducted onsite at Seacrest Medical Centre for all patients 14 years and above. Within our team we have a few GPs qualified to give these comprehensive assessments. Please ask our friendly reception staff for more booking information.

Dressing and Wound Management

Our medical team are up to date on the latest treatment of leg ulcers and wounds. Whereby a wound requires extensive or extended care, you will be referred to the Community nurses for ongoing care.

Should ongoing treatment be provided in clinic, there will be a $65 dressing fee with a Medicare rebate of $39.75.

Ear Micro Suction

Loss of hearing, blocked ears, itchy or discharging ears can be very uncomfortable. These symptoms may be caused due to ear wax. Micro suctioning is an examination and suctioning of the ear wax and debris using a high powered microscope and suction machine. The costly equipment is usually only available at specialist ENT centres. Our GPS are trained to provide this service to our patients. Ear suction appointments are available now, so please discuss this procedure with your doctor.

Medicine for Seniors

Our GPs work seamlessly to coordinate your care across a team of skilled allied and specialist health care providers. We offer a comprehensive annual health review for our patients aged over 75 years. Annual Health Assessments give you the opportunity to consider areas of your health that may not have recently been covered during a routine medical appointment. Your Annual Health Assessment will be bulk billed to Medicare, so there is no cost to you.

Iron Infusions

Iron infusions involve giving iron directly into the blood stream. At Seacrest Medical Centre, we conduct Iron Infusion clinics twice a week, where you will have a dedicated doctor and nurse conduct this procedure. If you are low in Iron or have symptoms such as tiredness/lethargy, headaches, irritability or weakness, please speak to your doctor.
